Disney's Golden Oak Residential Resort Community

Golden Oak at Walt Disney World
Have you ever wanted to live at Walt Disney World? I'm not talking about in Celebration, the community just outside of Disney (which is no longer Disney owned, sad). I mean right there, somewhere between Cinderella's Castle and Spaceship Earth.
Well, now you can.
Welcome to Golden Oak. A 980-acre community of luxury custom, single-family homes in Walt Disney World Resort master-planned by Walt Disney Imagineering.
Once complete, Golden Oak will have 450 homes and a Four Seasons hotel. Homeowners will have access to services such as private Disney park tours, holiday home decorating,
grocery delivery, concierge service, a golf course, a
fitness facility, a full-service spa, and more.
Wondering where the name came from? Golden Oak is named after Walt’s Golden Oak Ranch in California.
The Location
Based on the map above I wondered if this new community would be replacing Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. The answer is no. It's the former site of what was once planned to be the Eagle Pines Disney Vacation Club Resort. It's located between Fort Wilderness and Port Orleans Resort near Bonnet Creek Golf Club.

I think Golden Oak will be a very unique community with long term staying power. The price point is a difficult sale in these hard times (we find most of the action in the area happening below $500k as higher end buyers have been de-leveraging and scaling down), but Disney will sell out all 450 homes in time, and likely sell more units than that if the Four Seasons comes up with their own villa product. I think Disney will consistently sell more multi-million dollar homes than any other community in the greater Orlando area for years to come. For those that want a lower price point, don't mind driving a few extra minutes, and would rather have a real downtown and less exclusive feeling community, Celebration should not be overlooked.

This development is certainly not for everyone. However for those who can afford it, it's a very unique opportunity to live at Walt Disney World.
